Pirate Vessel Inbound
MISSION STATEMENT
Maritime Threat Resolution Ltd. (MTR) ensures end-to-end protection for single vessels or
limited vessel convoys.

UNIQUE SERVICE
MTR has access to dedicated security escort vessels which can be deployed from different Yemeni ports (and some Somali ports) at short notice. Due to the unique relationship, through its strategic partner, with Yemeni authorities, MTR has authorisation to transit through Yemeni waters with any client vessels.
For transits requiring the use of an escort vessel, MTR will always (time allowing) deploy a minimum of 2 British maritime security managers, and a Yemeni Coast Guard (YCG) team, to ensure maximum protection for the duration of the transit through the Gulf of Aden (GoA).

COST-EFFECTIVENESS
Many vessels choose to avoid areas of high risk maritime threat, and opt for more time-consuming and costly routings. MTR aims to give it's clients the confidence to choose expedient routings, and opportunity to minimise costs.  As MTR has negotiated very competitive rates for escort vessels, it is able to keep costs down, passing these on to its clients.

DETERRENCE
An escort vessel in close proximity to the client vessel has a deterrent effect towards potential pirate crews (no single ships that have been escorted by a security vessels, have suffered from attempted or actual hijack.
Unfortunately the realities of crime demonstrate that criminals will attempt theft if the chances of escape or (in the case of piracy) hijack, are high.

INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE TO SHIPPING COMPANIES
MTR sees itself as merely one element in the bid to ensure safety of vessels and their crews in pirate infested waters. It is therefore in our interest to ensure ship owners and captains have good information.  The following link will show the last week's Piracy incidents - Piracy Update. And a useful timeline giving a clear historical picture of the GoA piracy problem - Piracy Timeline.
We will assist less knowledgable operators to identify the threat and ways to counter it - a useful start is our LINKS and CREW TRAINING pages.

SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA
MTR will make all efforts to avoid endangering the lives of its clients, its own, and any other crews, but reserves the legal right to use lethal force under strict rules of engagement, to protect its own and other crews, within it's immediate sphere of activity.

MARITIME EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE (EO) CLEARANCE & INVESTIGATION -  MTR can clear unexploded munitions and weapons resulting from pirate encounters, and can conduct detailed investigation in hijackings and piracy encounters providing valuable feedback to clients and maritime organisations.  A wider range of EO services is also available on request.
